How do you make your own Nintendo 3DS game?

There are two ways to make your own video game for the Nintendo 3DS / 2DS console.
Way one: You can sign up to be a Nintendo 3DS / 2DS developer at the official Nintendo site developer.nintendo.com. This is recommended for experienced game developers.
Way two: You can use some of the game making tools that are available on the Nintendo eShop. Two tools are smile BASIC and RPG Maker Fes. This site offers tutorials, help, and games created in these programs. This is a great path if you want to try out game development and gain valuable experience!
